The Best Iced Matcha Latte


The sun is coming out and the spring buds are appearing. Spring is the time of year that has us craving iced drinks and green things from nature. 

We love matcha for so many reasons - especially when it’s really good matcha. Elena brought home matcha for us from a work trip to Japan years ago and it completely blew our minds. It was nothing like some of the poorer quality stuff we’d purchased in the past. It was bright green, smelled like a fresh bouquet, and tasted so smooth it would turn any matcha skeptic into a superfan.

Now we know to look for organic, pure, ceremonial grade matcha.  If you’ve tried matcha and found it didn’t have that bright green, beautiful color, and the taste was less than fresh, then it’s time to up your matcha game.

Can’t make frequent trips to Japan to get the good stuff? Unfortunately, neither can we. Thankfully, we were introduced to the wonderful team at Tenzo Matcha. Theirs is 100% pure, organic ceremonial matcha green tea powder. It's cultivated in Kagoshima, Japan by a 12th generation tea master whose family has nearly 400 years of matcha making expertise. And most importantly, it tastes so good.  

Why do we love matcha so much?

Well, first of all, it is delicious. The earthy, fresh, floral aromas of a quality matcha are enough to wake up the senses immediately. And when they’re combined with the subtle sweetness of whole grain oat milk, the fresh, floral notes seem to come through the matcha even more. The richness of the oat milk mellows out the matcha and provides a hint of oatyness that balances the green tea flavor and makes a rich texture.

There are a lot of recipes for iced matcha latte recipes, but after trying as many methods as we could, we found this one to be our favorite, and it couldn’t be simpler. Using a matcha whisk with a bowl is ideal, but if you don’t have one, don’t fret, you can shake it up in a water bottle. We also love Tenzo’s easy to use matcha shaker.         

Iced Oat Milk Matcha Latte Ingredients:

Glass full of ice 
1 tsp matcha
4 oz hot water
4 oz Willa's oat milk

The Best Iced Oat Milk Matcha Latte

Ingredients

Glass full of ice
1 tsp matcha
4 oz hot water
4 oz Willa's oat milk

Instructions

1. Heat up 4oz water (but don’t boil it)!
2. Scoop 1 tsp matcha powder into a bowl.
3. Add hot water.
4. Whisk matcha in a “M/W” shape with gusto! (Or shake in a shaker)
5. Pour Willa’s Oat Milk into the cup of ice.
6. Pour the whisked matcha on top of the milk and ice.
7. Stir and sip!
